2. April 2016: "Consultants have been invited to submit expressions of interest in a contract to assess the enabling environment for PPPs in Mauritania, and to develop a pipeline of potential projects. The scope of the World Bank-funded initiative will include advising the Ministry of Economy and Finance on the establishment of both an institutional framework and a dedicated PPP unit, and to help the government identify private partners, with a view to implementing one or more PPP pilots. The idea of water PPPs in Mauritania is not new – a number of piped water PPPs were set up in the country in the early 1990s, including a number of bundled contracts. With 32.8% of the population benefitting from access to a piped water supply, Mauritania is relatively well positioned within the African context."
